Here we present numerical simulations that show that the first water in the Universe formed in Pop III core-collapse and pair-instability supernovae at redshifts 20. The primary sites of water production in these remnants are dense molecular cloud cores, which in some cases were enriched with primordial water to mass fractions that were only a factor of a few below those in the Solar System today. These dense, dusty cores are also likely candidates for protoplanetary disk formation. \r\n\r\nBesides revealing that a primary ingredient for life was already in place in the Universe 100 - 200 Myr after the Big Bang, our simulations show that water was likely a key constituent of the first galaxies.","link_original":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2501.02051","status":2,"country":[],"sections":[{"id":190,"name":"Evolution of the Universe: the origin of Earth"}],"root_section":{"id":107,"name":"Life-friendly Earth"},"is_photo":false,"is_video":false,"is_large_font":false,"show_in_news_list":false,"url_to_show_in_news_list":"","location_filters":{"countries":[],"regions":[{"id":12,"name":"Global"}]},"filters":[]},{"id":"cfed5e9a-f383-4cf6-8e7a-8cd62a85356f","slug":"the-sacred-natural-sites-initiative-snsi-post","created_at":"2025-04-25T07:29:50.251588Z","views":12,"name":"The Sacred Natural Sites Initiative (SNSI)","about":"A global collaborative effort dedicated to the protection, conservation, and revitalisation of sacred natural sites—places of profound spiritual and cultural significance to communities worldwide.","text":"These sites encompass diverse natural features such as mountains, rivers, forests, and trees that hold deep meaning for Indigenous peoples and local communities.\n\nSNSI's mission is to assist in the safeguarding of sacred natural sites by supporting their guardians and communities. \n\nThe initiative aims to:\n- Support the long-term protection and revitalisation of sacred natural sites and their biocultural significance.\n- Amplify the voices of site guardians, promoting dialogue and bridging connections with key decision-makers.\n- Collaborate with conservation partners to enhance understanding and policy development related to sacred natural sites.\n- Engage with various stakeholders to foster awareness and respectful relationships concerning these sites.\n- Facilitate networks of organisations and custodians active in the conservation of sacred natural sites.","link_original":"https://sacrednaturalsites.org/","status":2,"country":[],"sections":[{"id":120,"name":"Natural monuments or features"}],"root_section":{"id":108,"name":"Conserving Wild Nature"},"is_photo":false,"is_video":false,"is_large_font":false,"show_in_news_list":false,"url_to_show_in_news_list":"","location_filters":{"countries":[],"regions":[]},"filters":[{"id":3,"name":"Platforms","badge_name":"Platform","show_badge":true,"children":[],"all_children":true,"all_children_ids":""}]},{"id":"d124a412-e9b5-401f-8182-1dd585761355","slug":"ryanair-confirms-new-bag-rules-and-says-well-be-watching-by-kate-lally-for-daily-record-post","created_at":"2025-07-21T09:36:29.275351Z","views":12,"name":"Ryanair confirms new bag rules and says 'we'll be watching' | by Kate Lally for Daily Record","about":"Ryanair is increasing its free “personal bag” size by 20% to 40 x 30 x 20 cm under new EU standards but warns passengers that oversized bags may still face a £70 fee if placed in the hold.","text":"Ryanair has confirmed it will expand its free “personal bag” allowance by 20%, increasing the size limit to 40 x 30 x 20 cm to align with new EU standards designed to standardize cabin baggage policies across European airlines. Guided by three principles—conservation, community, and education—it helps protect ecosystems and reduce poverty by creating sustainable jobs. When done right, ecotourism funds nature preservation and raises awareness of environmental challenges. However, it can also harm wildlife and ecosystems if poorly managed.
