Large-scale hydrogen storage in salt caverns has been under construction around the world, for example, in Teesside in the UK; Clemens Dome, Moss Bluff, and Spindle top in the USA; Kiel in Germany; and in northern and southern Poland. Hydrogen research needs to develop more for using it in green energy transition. In this study, hydrogen’s physical and chemical properties are first introduced; the geological conditions of the underground reservoirs in three counties of Southern Ontario are analysed, especially salt caverns. This study tested the importance of including biotic factors (trophic resource richness) in SDMs for 177 African bat species. Two models were built per species—one using only abiotic variables (noBIO-SDM) and one including biotic variables (BIO-SDM). BIO-SDMs consistently outperformed noBIO-SDMs (higher AUC values), and biotic predictors ranked as more important than abiotic ones in ~68% of species, including generalists. Over 80% of species showed changes in predicted distribution between models, especially in tropical forests and shrublands. These findings show that biotic interactions significantly influence species distributions even at continental scales, and generalist species also benefit from their inclusion. Integrating biotic factors improves ecological realism in SDMs and enhances predictions under climate change.","link_original":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ece3.9855","status":2,"country":[],"sections":[{"id":77,"name":"Biotic resource production areas"}],"root_section":{"id":68,"name":"Sustainable Human Habitats"},"is_photo":false,"is_video":false,"is_large_font":false,"show_in_news_list":false,"url_to_show_in_news_list":"","location_filters":{"countries":[],"regions":[{"id":12,"name":"Global"}]},"filters":[{"id":8,"name":"Enlightenment","badge_name":"Enlightenment","show_badge":false,"children":[{"id":27,"name":"Publications","badge_name":"Publication","show_badge":false,"children":[]}],"all_children":false,"all_children_ids":"9,10,27,11,12"}]},{"id":"a1b03b45-e825-4624-a048-dda3621a6004","slug":"ocean-society-of-india-post","created_at":"2025-05-23T11:26:43.940841Z","views":32,"name":"Ocean Society of India","about":"A professional society having life members all over the country with local chapters at Kochi, Chennai, Pune, Goa and Delhi","text":"The society comprises of Scientists, Engineers, and Technologists from various academic institutions, research laboratories, scientific organizations, industries, and other related bodies.\n\nThe mission of OSI is to provide a forum for sharing the knowledge and experience of individuals, research institutions, and industrial organizations working in the broad area of Ocean Sciences, Engineering, Technology and allied fields. This solvent-free process uses an inexpensive, non-toxic catalyst to break the chemical bonds in PET, followed by exposure to air moisture, converting the plastic into valuable monomers like terephthalic acid, which can be recycled into new or higher-value materials. Unlike traditional recycling methods that require harsh chemicals, high energy, and produce toxic byproducts, this approach is cleaner, safer, cheaper, and efficient, recovering 94% of the target product within four hours. The catalyst is reusable, works on mixed and colored plastics without the need for sorting, and offers a promising, scalable solution to reduce plastic pollution and promote a circular economy.","link_original":"https://news.northwestern.edu/stories/2025/03/plastic-recycling-gets-a-breath-of-fresh-air/?utm_source=chatgpt.com","status":2,"country":[],"sections":[{"id":61,"name":"Circular approach: reduce, reuse, recycle"}],"root_section":{"id":51,"name":"Industrial Revolution"},"is_photo":false,"is_video":false,"is_large_font":false,"show_in_news_list":false,"url_to_show_in_news_list":"","location_filters":{"countries":[],"regions":[]},"filters":[]},{"id":"a1b5c4b6-e538-451e-8c62-fd8bbf192bb5","slug":"global-groundwater-depletion-trends-impacts-and-solutions-post","created_at":"2024-03-05T17:05:34Z","views":84,"name":"Global Groundwater Depletion: Trends, Impacts, and Solutions","about":"A study published in Nature reveals alarming rates of groundwater level decline in aquifers worldwide. They found that 36% of aquifer systems are declining by more than 10 cm per year, with 12% declining by more than 50 cm per year, particularly under cultivated lands in dry climates.\r\nGroundwater supplies half of the world's drinking and irrigation water and sustains rivers and streams. The study also reveals an acceleration in groundwater-level declines over the past four decades in 30% of the world's regional aquifers.\r\nDr. Scott Jasechko emphasizes the potential for humans to reverse groundwater depletion through concerted efforts. Field mesocosm experiments indicate that oyster filter-feeding can enhance mCDR by accelerating the production of particulate and dissolved organic carbon in the water column and facilitating organic carbon deposition in sediments. This process shifts the water column toward greater autotrophy and alkalinity, contributing to atmospheric CO2 sequestration. Across a full culture cycle, the carbon stored through oyster-driven organic carbon production was 2.39 times greater than that retained in oyster shells. These results suggest that oyster farming may serve as a scalable, nature-based method for climate change mitigation, providing both carbon sequestration and food production benefits. Such findings highlight the role of oyster aquaculture in addressing global challenges including rising food demand.","link_original":"https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2504004122","status":2,"country":[],"sections":[{"id":77,"name":"Biotic resource production
