In this contribution, this paper re-evaluates the rehabilitation of the site of the former Vanda Station, a New Zealand outpost occupied from 1969 to 1991. It describes the design and implementation of the restoration, which included the removal of many tonnes of contaminated soils and groundwater, along with the post-action monitoring of the site. \r\n\r\nThe goal is to determine where challenges to the use of recent guidelines would have arisen. The film revisits the 1945 International Military Tribunal through a modern lens, reminding us that how we talk about Nuremberg today reveals as much about our current anxieties as about the past itself. Nuremberg’s message to the law and politics of the previous century was that claiming to be “just following orders” shouldn’t cancel individual responsibility for widespread atrocities. Ideas about the role of law are central to Vanderbilt’s rendering. The film challenges the outdated notion of uniquely German evil and exposes the selective morality of the victors who shaped postwar justice. In Vanderbilt’s hands, Nuremberg becomes more than history- it’s a warning about the fragility of law, the danger of legal voids, and the haunting possibility that it could happen here again.","link_original":"https://www.thenation.com/article/world/nuremberg-holocaust-fascism-accountability/#google_vignette","status":2,"country":[],"sections":[{"id":104,"name":"Military crisis"}],"root_section":{"id":207,"name":"New Global Community"},"is_photo":true,"is_video":true,"is_large_font":false,"show_in_news_list":true,"url_to_show_in_news_list":"https://onegeo.com/bucket/media/section_publication_photo/eb73f4ac-8416-4327-936f-e42f54803d0c","location_filters":{"countries":[],"regions":[{"id":12,"name":"Global"}]},"filters":[{"id":13,"name":"Media content","badge_name":"Media content","show_badge":false,"children":[{"id":14,"name":"Photo","badge_name":"Photo","show_badge":false,"children":[]},{"id":16,"name":"Films","badge_name":"Film","show_badge":false,"children":[]}],"all_children":false,"all_children_ids":"14,15,16"}]},{"id":"5d03136b-4582-412f-99f9-7df218216c04","slug":"rethinking-retail-a-marketers-guide-to-decoding-consumer-preference-through-data-analytics-by-martin-block-frank-mulhern-larry-degaris-don-schultz-post","created_at":"2025-07-29T08:50:39.020452Z","views":31,"name":"Rethinking Retail – A Marketer’s Guide to Decoding Consumer Preference through Data Analytics | Palgrave Macmillan 2025 | by Martin Block, Frank Mulhern, Larry DeGaris, Don Schultz","about":"Combines depth of insights into marketing influences with shopper behaviors across industry categories.","text":"\"Retailing has changed rapidly in recent years with the pandemic accelerating the long-term growth of e-commerce. Drawing on a unique data set drawn from hundreds of thousands of interviews over almost two decades, this book takes a close look at changes in consumers’ shopping preferences, behaviors, and influences.\n\n\nAcross a range of topics, the authors argue that the rise of e-commerce has coincided with a decline in consumer preferences—what people buy and where they buy it. This presents challenges for both retailers and manufacturers.\n\n\nThe authors propose that the answer lies with consumers. A focus on consumers is fundamental to designing effective marketing strategies and campaigns. These spaces serve as venues for exercise, socialization, and relaxation, thereby enhancing both mental and physical well-being. Furthermore, they facilitate interactions among individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering social cohesion and mitigating inequality.\nThese spaces hold the potential to draw in businesses and tourists, concurrently bolstering local enterprises. Additionally, they play a crucial role in mitigating the urban heat island effect and enhancing air quality. Moreover, they offer refuge during extreme weather events and serve as evacuation and emergency response zones. Using 40 years of data from the Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve, researchers Eric Seabloom, Elizabeth Borer, and Sarah Hobbie found that nutrient additions increased soil carbon storage following intensive farming—and these gains persisted for over thirty years after fertilization and tilling stopped. Even as plant biomass and species composition returned to natural levels, soil carbon remained stable as long as the ground stayed untilled. The findings suggest that retired farmland, increasingly common in North America, could play a crucial role in long-term carbon sequestration and ecosystem restoration. Future research aims to explore how these lands can also support rural economies, biodiversity recovery, and sustainable development.","link_original":"https://twin-cities.umn.edu/news-events/retired-croplands-offer-hope-carbon-storage","status":2,"country":[{"id":240,"name":"United States of America","icon":""}],"sections":[{"id":140,"name":"Carbon capture and storage technologies"}],"root_section":{"id":107,"name":"Life-friendly Earth"},"is_photo":true,"is_video":false,"is_large_font":false,"show_in_news_list":true,"url_to_show_in_news_list":"https://onegeo.com/bucket/media/section_publication_photo/55bae36c-fdb1-4f3a-8257-900245bc365e","location_filters":{"countries":[{"id":240,"name":"United States of America"}],"regions":[{"id":4,"name":"North America"}]},"filters":[{"id":13,"name":"Media content","badge_name":"Media content","show_badge":false,"children":[{"id":14,"name":"Photo","badge_name":"Photo","show_badge":false,"children":[]}],"all_children":false,"all_children_ids":"14,15,16"}]},{"id":"4199d6d4-6e22-48d1-8797-b983506d0606","slug":"retreathub-post","created_at":"2026-03-25T16:22:38.566674Z","views":5,"name":"RetreatHub","about":"A first of its kind platform designed to connect venue owners with yoga teachers, retreat leaders and other professionals searching for the right space to run their next retreat","text":"Retreat Hub is an online platform designed to help users discover and book wellness retreats worldwide, offering a curated selection of experiences focused on yoga, meditation, detox, fitness, and holistic healing.
