"name": "The Role of Privatization in Shaping Economic Outcomes in Emerging Markets: A Systematic Review | by Sayed Imran Ur Rahman and MD.Barkat Ullah Tusher for Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP)",
"about": "Through comparative and evidence-based meta-analysis, the paper evaluates the diverse approaches and outcomes of privatization initiatives implemented since the 1980s, particularly under the influence of global structural reforms and fiscal pressures.",
"text": "This study explores the political, economic, social, and financial impacts of privatization in developing countries and transitioning economies, focusing on regional experiences in Asia and Latin America, as well as examples from post-Soviet states and post-WWII Germany and Japan.\r\n\r\nThe findings reveal that while privatization has often improved operational efficiency, attracted foreign direct investment, and alleviated fiscal burdens, it has also caused significant social costs, most notably job losses, increased inequality, and reduced access to essential public services in vulnerable populations.\r\n\r\nThe paper concludes with context-specific policy recommendations to ensure privatization efforts in countries such as Bangladesh contribute to long-term, inclusive, and sustainable development.",

"text": "This study explores the impact of metallic and non-metallic mineral consumption on the global transition to renewable energy. Using panel data from 55 countries (2000–2020), it finds that both types of mineral use hinder the energy shift, with metallic minerals having a stronger negative effect. The impact is more severe in countries with weaker governance and intensifies across higher consumption levels. Financial development, human capital, and industrial structure play key moderating roles, though their effects vary. Findings highlight the environmental trade-offs in mineral use and offer insights for more balanced, sustainable energy policies.",

"text": "This study explores how governments integrate Open Source Software (OSS) into their digital transformation strategies, recognizing OSS as a crucial public good that enhances transparency, sovereignty, interoperability, and economic growth. Using qualitative analysis of policy documents and interviews across 16 digitally advanced countries, the research identifies widespread OSS reuse policies managed mainly by central government bodies. These policies aim to promote interoperability, cost efficiency, and digital sovereignty, supported by Open Source Program Offices (OSPOs) that enable collaboration, capacity building, and sustainable project management. The study proposes new indicators—spanning 14 policy and implementation areas—to strengthen digital government maturity indexes and highlights OSS as a key enabler of modern, resilient, and transparent public sector innovation.",

"text": "This study draws on knowledge from around 50 public, private and academic-sector stakeholders to explore the implications of the current national strategy on the biomass sector. This has been set by the UK’s National Energy System Operator (NESO) who have identified that biomass “provides a renewable low carbon power source” that can be used as dispatchable generation to help meet demand during times of low wind and solar output”, contributing to the delivery of a more resilient energy supply. However, where carbon capture and storage (CCS) is installed to create a “negative emissions” BECCS system, NESO suggest that higher load factors would be desirable to “maximise carbon removal from the atmosphere”.\n\nThis study has established that bioenergy supply chains already store energy over prolonged periods, and that there is potential to make use of this characteristic to address the seasonal variations in wind and solar renewables output that affect electricity, heat and gas markets.",

"text": "This structured literature review examines the role of Global Citizenship Education (GCE) as a strategic tool within G20 policy frameworks to address economic inequality, sustainability challenges, and global cooperation, particularly in alignment with SDGs 4.7, 8, 10, 13, and 17. Drawing on over 80 scholarly and policy sources and eight G20 case studies—including Finland, South Korea, Germany, Brazil, South Africa, China, India, and the USA—the review finds that GCE’s transformative potential emerges when it is systemically embedded across curricula, teacher education, and intersectoral development agendas. Countries with robust integration demonstrate stronger links between GCE and economic mobility, sustainability awareness, and international collaboration, while fragmented or technocratic approaches often weaken its emancipatory dimensions. The review identifies critical gaps in monitoring, political support, and long-term impact evaluation, particularly in Global South contexts.",

"about": "The German government is taking decisive steps towards achieving greenhouse gas neutrality by 2045 through the introduction of a Carbon Management Strategy (CMS)",
"text": "This strategy includes plans to support carbon capture and storage (CCS) for industrial processes and gas-fired power plants, while also allowing offshore carbon storage under the seabed or abroad.\r\nThe CMS aims to address hard-to-abate emissions by capturing and storing or using emitted CO2 (CCU) from industries such as cement production or waste incineration. Offshore carbon storage will be allowed, while onshore underground storage remains prohibited for now.\r\nThe decision to embrace CCS is a strategic one, according to Economy Minister Robert Habeck, who emphasized the importance of this technology in reaching climate targets and maintaining Germany's competitiveness. However, CCS is viewed as a complementary measure to existing climate policies, which prioritize emission avoidance through renewables, fossil fuel phase-out, hydrogen economy development, and energy efficiency improvements.\r\nThe strategy's success hinges on creating a reliable legal and financial framework",

"text": "This strategic partnership positions the company to strengthen collaboration as a foundation for sustained human operations on the moon and beyond.\n\nThe two companies said the partnership will focus on advanced expandable structures for habitation and storage, a capability increasingly seen as critical to long-duration lunar missions and future expeditions to Mars.\n\nVoyager chairman and chief executive Dylan Taylor said the agreement reflected a broader shift in how space agencies and industry view human activity beyond Earth.\n\nThe collaboration combines Voyager’s track record in delivering mission-critical space systems and infrastructure with Max Space’s lightweight, high-volume expandable structures, which are designed to be launched compactly and deployed at scale once in space.\n\nTogether, the companies aim to create a flexible and repeatable approach to human operations on the lunar surface while laying the groundwork for future Mars missions.",

It is the story of the discipline of economics, and some of the key figures who formed it. And it is the story of how economic forces have shaped world history. Why didn't Africa colonize Europe instead of the other way around? What happened when countries erected trade and immigration barriers in the 1930s? Why did the Allies win World War II? Why did inequality in many advanced countries fall during the 1950s and 1960s? How did property rights drive China's growth surge in the 1980s? How does climate change threaten our future prosperity? You'll find answers to these questions and more in How Economics Explains the World.",

It reflects a collaborative effort of the Global Oil & Gas Network (GGON), which includes non-governmental organizations around the world that are working to advance a climate-safe and just transition off of oil and gas production.\n\nA managed transition away from oil and gas production, alongside coal, will be required to meet the climate goals to which governments have committed themselves under the Paris Agreement. This shift is technologically possible. If managed equitably, it will bring positive, long-term benefits to the health, well-being, and human rights of communities globally. But seeing it through will require a profound shift in political, economic, and social policies and priorities globally.",

"about": "The latest state of knowledge on the topic of industrial clusters, with a particular focus on clustering in the UK, bringing together a chronological coverage of the phenomenon.",
"text": "This set of original essays by a group of leading business and industrial historians offers fresh perspectives about clusters and clustering. A primary emphasis of the collection is how knowledge is generated and disseminated across a cluster, and whether these processes stimulated innovation and consequently longer-term sustainability. This analysis also prompts questions about which unit of analysis to examine, from the entrepreneurs and firms they created through to the industry as a whole and district in which they are located, or whether one should look outside the region for explanatory factors. Covering regions as diverse as North Wales, the Scottish Highlands, the City of London, the Potteries, Sheffield and Lancashire, the essays have been channelled to provide a detailed understanding of these issues. The editors have also provided a challenging Conclusion that suggests a new research agenda that could well unravel some of the mysteries associated with clustering.",

"text": "This seminal book, which has been called “one of the outstanding contributions to psychological thought” by C.Rogers and “one of the great books of our time” by H.Kushner, has been translated into 50+ languages. “An enduring work of survival literature,” according to the New York Times, V.Frankl’s riveting account of his time in the Nazi concentration camps, and his insightful exploration of the human will to find meaning in spite of the worst adversity, has offered solace and guidance to generations of readers since it was first published in 1946. At the heart of Frankl’s theory of logotherapy (“meaning” in Greek) is a conviction that the primary human drive is not pleasure, as Freud maintained, but rather the discovery and pursuit of what the individual finds meaningful. As new generations face new challenges and an ever more complex and uncertain world, this book continues to inspire us all to find significance in the very act of living, in spite of all obstacles.",
