"about": "This book is the result of interviews with more than 70 international leaders. The results show that in the coming years, Global Services will tend to grow in B2B, B2C, P2P, an in particular P2B relationships.",
"text": "Deciding on locations will be a more flexible process that may include different countries, cities, and even the cloud. Therefore, an increase in delocalizing options (multi-sourcing) is expected. As a result, global labour arbitrage will create opportunities not only for secondary cities but also for cells and individuals with outstanding talents and appropriate telecommunication infrastructures. This, in turn, will foster the flourishing of companies with neither human resources of their own, nor a physical presence in a specific location.\r\n\r\nThe author makes a compelling case that over the coming 20 years, the companies that thrive will be those which not only embrace technology, but also generate disruptive business models in an authentic digital transformation process. However, only those who place people and their environment at the centre of their business plans will achieve true success.",

"about": "Keeping CO₂ produced by industrial facilities out of the atmosphere while converting it into useful raw materials for the chemical industry – this is the climate-relevant and commercially promising objective pursued by researchers at the University.",
"text": "Dealing with climate change remains one of humanity’s greatest challenges, driven in part by the steadily rising concentration of carbon dioxide (CO₂) in the atmosphere – a trend closely linked to human activity, especially the use of fossil fuels and their combustion. At the same time, the electrochemical conversion of CO₂ presents a dual opportunity: it can help reduce emissions from industrial sources while also generating valuable raw materials for the chemical industry.\n\nThis ambitious project, which also received the University’s Innovation Award, has demonstrated that cobalt oxide can successfully replace iridium as an anode catalyst in CO₂ electrolysis. This represents a significant advance, as iridium is not only extremely expensive but also scarce. The research team is now working to further improve the efficiency of the process by incorporating additional transition metals.",

"text": "Day 8 of COP30 underscored putting nature at the center of climate action as the foundation for resilient societies and thriving economies. Leaders moved decisively from pledges to practical implementation, advancing forests, land tenure, adaptation, and bioeconomy initiatives. Key achievements included the operationalization of the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF), surpassing the $1.7B Indigenous Land and Forest Tenure Pledge, and the launch of the Global Bioeconomy Challenge and Scaling JREDD+ Coalition to expand jurisdictional forest protection and close financing gaps.\r\n\r\nSignificant progress was also made in coordinated fire management, mobilizing over $10B for nature-based solutions via the Earth Investment Engine, and accelerating investments in regenerative landscapes and agriculture, supporting over 210 million hectares of land and 12 million farmers. Indigenous peoples and youth played a central role, sharing community-led adaptation strategies, and shaping policy.",

The central message is that resilience begins in communities — in classrooms, clinics, and the systems that support them.\r\n\r\nThe day opens with a major milestone: the adoption of the Belém Health Action Plan (BHAP). Led by Brazil, this landmark initiative brings countries together to build climate-resilient health systems through stronger surveillance, local capacity, and innovation. Education takes center stage as well during the Ministerial Roundtable on Greening Education, co-hosted by Brazil and UNESCO, demonstrating how teachers and schools can prepare societies to thrive amid climate change.\r\n\r\nFinancing is highlighted as a crucial enabler for both sectors, with calls for development banks and climate funds to align their investments with climate-ready health and education systems.",

"text": "Day 2 of COP30 highlighted the power of local and subnational climate action, showing how cities and communities are turning global goals into tangible improvements in housing, water, waste, and infrastructure. Through major events like the High-Level Ministerial on Multilevel Governance and Beat the Heat Initiative, leaders emphasized that effective climate action begins at the local level. The launch of the Plan to Accelerate Multilevel Governance and the CHAMP coalition embedded local leadership into global frameworks. The release of the Yearbook of Global Climate Action 2025 confirmed that most countries now integrate cities and civil society into their climate strategies, yet greater alignment and financing are needed. Guided by Brazil’s spirit of mutirão — collective effort — COP30 showcased how empowering communities can build resilience, improve lives, and drive the global transition from ambition to action.",

Framed as his “witness statement,” the film charts humanity’s growing impact on the planet—deforestation, climate change, mass extinction—and presents a stark warning about the consequences of continuing on our current path. Yet it also offers hope, outlining practical solutions to restore biodiversity, stabilize the climate, and build a sustainable future. It’s both a personal memoir and an urgent call to action to protect life on Earth.",

"about": "When the power for data centers comes from fossil fuels, they can become major sources of climate-warming emissions in the atmosphere – unless the power plants capture their greenhouse gases first and then lock them away.",
"text": "Data centers are expanding quickly, and utilities will have to build more power capacity to keep up. The artificial intelligence company OpenAI is urging the U.S. to build 100 gigawatts of new capacity every year – doubling its current rate.\n\nThe Google project plans to use an existing injection well site that was part of the first large-scale carbon storage demonstration in the Mount Simon formation. The Mount Simon sandstone formation is a huge saline aquifer that lies underneath most of Illinois, southwestern Indiana, southern Ohio and western Kentucky. It has a layer of highly porous and permeable sandstone that makes it an ideal candidate for carbon dioxide injection. \n\nGoogle’s 400-megawatt natural gas power plant, to be built with Broadwing Energy, is designed to capture about 90% of the plant’s carbon dioxide emissions and pipe them underground for permanent storage in a deep saline aquifer.",

"text": "Dare to imagine a future where humankind not only survives but flourishes by rethinking global paradigms, respecting the limits of our planetary resources, and transforming the modern world. The documentary Going Circular unlocks the secrets to the concept of circularity - an economic system that eliminates waste and saves the planet’s resources. The film explores concrete solutions individuals and communities worldwide can use to move toward a more circular economy.\r\n\r\nThe film tells the story of four visionaries from around the world – 102-year-old inventor Dr. James Lovelock, biomimicry biologist Janine Benyus, designer Arthur Huang, and financier John Fullerton – whose extraordinary experiences changed the way they think about humanity’s future. Each of their stories leads them to a fundamental reassessment of what our food, our cities, our financial system, even our fashion industry could look like if we create, produce, and distribute within Earth’s natural boundaries.",

Menin and RAS inhibitors show promise for hard-to-treat AML and pancreatic cancer, while personalized vaccines train patients’ immune systems to fight their specific tumors. Radioligand therapy and protein degraders offer innovative treatment strategies, and multi-cancer early detection tests aim to catch cancer sooner. Lifestyle interventions, including diet and exercise, are proving beneficial for recovery and recurrence prevention. AI assistants support oncologists in staying updated on emerging treatments. \n\nNext-generation cell therapies, such as CAR-T, NK, and TIL therapies, are expanding possibilities, and advanced tools like immunopeptidomics are unlocking new ways to harness the immune system against cancer, giving unprecedented hope for patients worldwide.",

Dam construction and removal affects progress toward the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) at local to global scales. However, globally-consistent information on the location and characteristics of these structures are lacking, and information is often highly localised, fragmented, or inaccessible. \n\nGlobal Dam Watch aims to Improve our understanding of the costs and benefits of dams to our world by providing open access data and tools focused on dams and reservoirs. It works across disciplines and scales to gather, curate and share high quality open-access, georeferenced regional and global dam data and knowledge.",
