P., Brandt, P., and Kiko, R.: Marine snow surface production and bathypelagic export at the Equatorial Atlantic from an imaging float, Biogeosciences, 22, 7985–8003, https://doi.org/10.5194/bg-2", "text": "The marine biological carbon pump (BCP) plays a central role in the global carbon cycle, transporting carbon from the surface to the deep ocean and sequestering it for long periods. Sinking of surface-produced particles, known as the Biological Gravity Pump (BGP) constitutes the main component of the BCP. To study the BGP in the equatorial Atlantic upwelling region, a biogeochemical Argo float equipped with an Underwater Vision Profiler 6 camera was deployed from July 2021 to March 2022. The float was recovered after its eastward drift from 23 to 7° W along the equator, during which it conducted profiles to 2000 m depth every 3 d. For the first time in this oceanic region, in situ images and physical and biogeochemical data from a BGC-Argo float were acquired and analyzed in combination with satellite data. During the float trajectory, two blooms were recorded followed by two main export events of sinking aggregates that lasted for over a month, consistently reaching 2000 m depth.", "link_original": "https://bg.copernicus.org/articles/22/7985/2025/bg-22-7985-2025.html", "status": 2, "country": [], "sections": [ { "id": 161, "name": "The Atlantic Ocean" } ], "root_section": { "id": 107, "name": "Life-friendly Earth" }, "is_photo": false, "is_video": false, "is_large_font": false, "show_in_news_list": false, "url_to_show_in_news_list": "", "location_filters": { "countries": [], "regions": [ { "id": 8, "name": "The Atlantic Ocean" } ] }, "filters": [] }, { "id": "7bcea086-fe47-408f-b2c4-a16cb63e8ddf", "slug": "the-17th-international-coastal-symposium2024-24-27-september-doha-qatar-post", "created_at": "2024-09-24T08:50:18Z", "views": 111, "name": "The 17th International Coastal Symposium 2024, 24 - 27 September, Doha, Qatar", "about": "The Symposium embraces a broad spectrum of subthemes, ensuring a comprehensive exploration of coastal issues and solutions.
