As in previous years, the 2024 report aligns with the theme and corresponding SDGs of the high-level political forum on sustainable development (HLPF) selected for any particular year. In this context, the SDGs under review by the 2024 HLPF focus on ending poverty (Goal 1); eliminating hunger (Goal 2); combating climate change (Goal 13); promoting peaceful societies (Goal 16) and strengthening global partnerships (Goal 17). Each SDG is analysed in relation to the corresponding goal of the African Union Agenda 2063.\n\nThe findings of the report highlight the need for Africa to accelerate progress on SDGs 1, 2 and 17, reverse the negative trend on climate action (Goal 13) and strengthen statistical systems to track performance particularly on good governance (SDG 16), where data limitations abound and inhibit performance tracking.", "link_original": "https://www.undp.org/africa/publications/2024-africa-sustainable-development-report", "status": 2, "country": [], "sections": [ { "id": 200, "name": "Future of unified humanity" } ], "root_section": { "id": 1, "name": "Enlightened Humanity" }, "is_photo": true, "is_video": false, "is_large_font": false, "show_in_news_list": false, "url_to_show_in_news_list": "", "location_filters": { "countries": [], "regions": [ { "id": 6, "name": "Africa" } ] }, "filters": [ { "id": 8, "name": "Enlightenment", "badge_name": "Enlightenment", "show_badge": false, "children": [ { "id": 27, "name": "Publications", "badge_name": "Publication", "show_badge": false, "children": [] } ], "all_children": false, "all_children_ids": "9,10,27,11,12" } ] }, { "id": "c4910958-7a75-4031-a9a2-f707f8dac62a", "slug": "madrid-museum-shuffles-its-pack-charting-decades-of-rapid-change-in-spain-post", "created_at": "2026-02-20T08:20:22.060935Z", "views": 9, "name": "Madrid museum shuffles its pack charting decades of rapid change in Spain | by Sam Jones for The Guardian", "about": "Reina Sofía’s three-year rehang of works by artists from Spain and beyond is billed as a ‘critical reinterpretation’", "text": "The Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid has unveiled a major rehang of its contemporary art collection titled Contemporary Art: 1975 to the Present, bringing together 403 works that trace Spain’s cultural and social transformation since the death of dictator Francisco Franco in 1975. About two-thirds of the works have never before been part of the museum’s permanent display, and the selection includes both Spanish and international artists like Nan Goldin and Robert Mapplethorpe, illustrating how art has both reflected and shaped Spain’s turbulent recent history. The processes of globalisation and integration are accelerating economic growth; however, imbalances between regions are growing. Reducing inequalities within regions and national economies, as well as around the world, is important for individual and societal well-being and cohesion, and for effective state policies.\n\nThis book investigates the problem of left-behind regions in the European Union (EU). It first introduces the reader to the theories of regional imbalances and problems with measuring them. It then explores imbalances in the EU using a variety of indicators and describes the EU’s regional policy for reducing regional disparities. It uses an empirical shift-share analysis to assess the productivity of EU regions which are lagging behind. Their survival depends on the world’s leaders taking drastic and rapid action to reduce global emissions. Yet we know that regardless of this critical work, the warming already locked into the earth's climate system over the coming two to three decades will in itself threaten the ability of reefs to recover.\r\nOur goal is that large-scale, well-designed restoration initiatives can help corals adapt to this changing environment. We know that future reefs will be different to the reefs we have today, but our aim is to ensure that the ecosystem continues to function and remains healthy.\r\nAcross the globe, reef restoration practitioners have developed several methods to grow and plant new corals, like tree planting efforts for land ecosystems like forests and bushland.\r\nThis article is published on the website of the Great Barrier Reef Foundation", "link_original": "https://www.barrierreef.org/news/explainers/what-is-reef-restoration", "status": 2, "country": [], "sections": [ { "id": 49, "name": "Oceans and seas" } ], "root_section": { "id": 108, "name": "Conserving Wild Nature" }, "is_photo": false, "is_video": true, "is_large_font": false, "show_in_news_list": true, "url_to_show_in_news_list": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OTrA8BqQSE", "location_filters": { "countries": [], "regions": [] }, "filters": [ { "id": 13, "name": "Media content", "badge_name": "Media content", "show_badge": false, "children": [ { "id": 15, "name": "Video", "badge_name": "Video", "show_badge": false, "children": [] } ], "all_children": false, "all_children_ids": "14,15,16" } ] }, { "id": "67654d0d-2518-4324-a83f-e5b2402d3edc", "slug": "top-11-ways-to-reduce-the-carbon-footprint-in-industrial-settings-by-jordan-huffman-for-clean-planet-post", "created_at": "2025-06-17T09:51:55.517513Z", "views": 16, "name": "Top 11 Ways to Reduce the Carbon Footprint in Industrial Settings | by Jordan Huffman for Clean Planet", "about": "Reducing industrial carbon emissions through green technologies, waste reduction, and employee engagement is essential for meeting climate goals and improving sustainability and efficiency.", "text": "In a world grappling with the urgent need to combat climate change, industrial manufacturing stands out as a significant contributor to carbon emissions.
