"about": "It is a comprehensive framework for managing, processing, archiving, and distributing Earth science data from various sources, including satellites, aircraft, and field measurements, through interconnected systems.",
"text": "EOSDIS is a key component of the Earth Science Data Systems (ESDS) Program, providing capabilities for managing data from satellites, aircraft, field measurements, and other sources. For EOS satellite missions, EOSDIS supports command and control, scheduling, data capture, and initial processing (level 0). These capabilities, part of EOSDIS Mission Operations, are managed by NASA's Earth Science Mission Operations (ESMO) Project. Data is transmitted via NASA networks to science operations facilities. EOSDIS Science Operations, managed by the ESDIS Project, generate higher-level science data products (levels 1-4), archive, and distribute data from EOS and other missions. This is done through a distributed system of centers like SIPS and DAACs, which serve a large user community with data access and specialized services. Other elements of EOSDIS include CMR, GIBS, LANCE, and more.",

Nations strive to transit their economy from carbon-intensive to low-carbon in terms of adaption and transition by reducing or capturing greenhouse gas (CO2) emission. As a pioneer in a low carbon economy, Canada has implemented carbon tax system and established huge fund support for low carbon technology development and marketing. \r\nAs carbon capture, utilization and storage becomes more prevalent, some advocates question whether it amounts to another way to prop up the oil and gas industry. Others argue it’s the only way forward to a net-zero future. Lets dive into a discussion at the Carbon Capture Canada Conference.\r\nKey themes: \r\n1. Carbon Capture Projects Driving Decarbonization \r\n2. Investment in Carbon Capture Projects\r\n3. Transforming the Carbon Capture Ecosystem",

"text": "A South American country has achieved a major milestone with the launch of its first ship powered entirely by green hydrogen, signaling a transformative step for clean energy and sustainable river transport. Developed by Itaipú Binacional through its innovation center, the vessel was unveiled on the Itaipú reservoir, on the Brazil-Paraguay border, and will make its official debut at COP30 in Belém. Measuring 9.5 meters in length, 3 meters in beam, and built from recyclable aluminum, the ship can carry up to nine tons and operates with a green hydrogen propulsion system, emitting no greenhouse gases, smoke, or fuel odor. Beyond innovation, the vessel will collect solid waste from river islands, improving water quality and supporting riverside communities. This project demonstrates the potential of green hydrogen to reduce emissions, store renewable energy, decarbonize industries, enable sustainable transport, create carbon-neutral fuels, and position South America as a leader.",

"text": "This video clarifies the distinction between somatic and germline genetic modifications, using a recent medical case and a past controversial one as examples. Somatic gene editing, as demonstrated in a life-saving treatment for a baby, alters only the body's cells and isn't passed on. In contrast, germline editing modifies an embryo's genes, making the changes heritable. The video highlights the ethical concerns surrounding germline editing, particularly in a case where it was illicitly performed on human embryos, and contrasts it with the more cautious approach advocated for somatic modifications. It emphasizes the importance of understanding these differences and the potential consequences of each type of genetic intervention.",

"text": "The article shows that the Proterozoic era witnessed significant environmental and geological changes that shaped early life on Earth. During this time, tectonic activity, including the formation and breakup of supercontinents, influenced ocean chemistry and atmospheric oxygenation. Cyanobacteria thrived in deep oceans while eukaryotes occupied marginal marine environments. The era experienced multiple intense glaciations, contributing to the Snowball Earth hypothesis. Band Iron Formations (BIF) appeared and disappeared, reflecting shifts from anoxic to sulphidic ocean conditions. The transition from mafic Archean to felsic Proterozoic crust also affected sediment geochemistry. Overall, the Proterozoic set key conditions for life evolution and sediment deposition.",

Raised with a blend of Ralph Lauren attire and traditional Diné pieces, Naiomi Glasses redefines Americana fashion by infusing her Indigenous heritage into the Polo Ralph Lauren collaboration. Inspired by the Diné's reverence for blankets, Naiomi Glasses introduces undyed wool and alpaca fleece in her designs, along with Diné motifs and symbols like the Spider Woman cross. Glasses' artistic residency showcases the beauty and joy of Indigenous representation in fashion. This study investigates the impact of natural resource rents—specifically Coal Rents (CR), Forest Rents (FR), Natural Gas Rents (NGR), and Oil Rents (OR)—on SDG performance in four South Asian countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan, over the period 2002–2023. Using balanced panel data, the analysis applies Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and Panel Quantile Regression (PQR) techniques to examine both average and distributional effects. \r\n\r\nThe findings reveal that NGR and OR have a statistically significant and positive impact on the SDGs across all quantiles, indicating their consistent role in promoting sustainable development. In contrast, FR shows a negative association with SDGs at lower quantiles, suggesting potential trade-offs between forest exploitation and sustainability.",

Rafting on the Irsha River is a first-class choice for beginners or couples. The absence of rapids or fast sections will allow you to \"savor\" the scenery without risk and unnecessary difficulties. \n\n4. Rafting on the Teterev is a fast-moving current, cozy sandy beaches... and mighty granite rocks that envelop pine forests.\n \n5. Rafting on the Ros River is an adventure that will open up a real corner of Ukrainian nature. \n\n6. Just nine years ago, 44% of assessed bird species had declining populations, according to the red list of endangered species from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).\n\nBut the green sea turtle’s recovery “reminds us that conservation works”, said the IUCN director general, Dr Grethel Aguilar. Once classified as endangered, it is now viewed as a species of least concern due to conservation efforts. The turtles’s numbers have grown by 28% since the 1970s thanks to greater protection for nest sites in Ascension Island, Brazil, Mexico and Hawaii.",

"text": "Trade plays a crucial role in combating food insecurity by facilitating the efficient movement of food from surplus to deficit regions, helping stabilize prices and improving access to a diverse and nutritious food supply—particularly during local shortages or crises. A recent issue note from UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) underscores the potential of trade measures to mitigate food crises, as it examines the link between trade and food insecurity, with policy recommendations to support famine relief and strengthen global food security.\n\nIn light of widespread dependence on imports and mentioned vulnerabilities, the report entitled “Trade against hunger” proposes a mechanism to combat severe food insecurity. It aims to enhance the export capacity and economic resilience of countries facing, or at risk of, severe food insecurity by temporarily eliminating tariffs with flexible rules of origin, supporting compliance with non-tariff measures, improving transport and logistics.",

"about": "The journal PLOS ONE has recently published intriguing research by Turkish scientist Nazlı Tunar Özcan from Hacettepe University (Ankara) that provides valuable insights into the thermal behavior of rock salt, using the Çankırı salt basin as a case study",
"text": "As known, caverns in rock salt are used for storing various substances and waste disposaldue to their impermeability and self-healing characteristics. \r\nThat's why understanding the thermal effects on rock salt becomes very impotant. This study investigates the impact of temperature (20°C to 250°C) on physical and mechanical properties of rock salt including tensile strength (σt), and uniaxial compression strength (σc), & the P-wave velocity (Vp). Utilizing acoustic emission (AE) and X-ray micro-computed tomography techniques, the study monitors microcrack accumulation and changes in the rock salt's microstructure and porosity. \r\nResults reveal that as temperature rises, Vp and σt decrease, while σc increases. Ductility and axial strain also rise with temperature. AE activity initiates early, intensifying with higher temperatures, influencing crack initiation and damage thresholds. X-ray micro-CT images indicate a significant increase in cracks and porosity at elevated temperatures",

"about": "Since building a jetliner can involve 200+ direct suppliers that are scattered across the globe, aerospace firms are rethinking their approach. By bringing production and supply chains closer to home, they’ve sparked a revolutionary “reshoring.”",
"text": "Reshoring is the process of moving production from far-off facilities back to the home country or trusted allied regions. While offshoring dominated the late 20th and early 21st centuries as companies chased cheaper labor in Asia and beyond, the weaknesses of that model have become increasingly clear.\n\nKey Takeaways:\nReshoring is reshaping global manufacturing, as firms bring production home, reversing decades of offshoring driven mainly by cost savings.\nAerospace leads the comeback, reshoring critical supply chains to boost reliability, oversight, and national security.\nMomentum is spreading fast, with semiconductors, energy, healthcare, and electric vehicles reshoring in response to crises and new incentives.\nReshoring benefits are clear with stronger resilience, better quality, more jobs, fewer hidden costs, and lower carbon supply chains.\nReshoring challenges remain tough, from higher labor costs and skills gaps to automation needs and risks of reduced global flexibilities.",
