"about": "ACEA’s latest report shows a mixed global auto outlook for 2025, with modest EU growth, rising Chinese dominance, and ongoing challenges in European production, trade, and the transition to zero-emission vehicles.",
"text": "The ACEA Economic and Market Report offers a detailed overview of vehicle sales, production, and trade across Europe and worldwide, painting a mixed picture for the automotive industry in 2025.\n\nThe EU economy remains cautiously positive, with GDP expected to grow by 1.1% in 2025 despite trade tensions and tariff shifts from the United States. Inflation is forecast to ease to 2.3% in 2025 and average 1.9% in 2026, while employment continues to strengthen, driving unemployment to a projected record low of 5.7% by 2026.\n\nGlobally, car markets displayed uneven performance in the first half of 2025. Worldwide registrations rose 5% to 37.4 million units, led by China’s 12% increase thanks to strong policy incentives for new energy vehicles. North America saw moderate growth of 2.5%, but Europe lagged, with registrations down 2.4% overall and 1.9% within the EU, although Türkiye, the UK, and EFTA countries provided some balance.",

"text": "The PeatTransform project aims to support the transition of Latvia’s peat sector toward climate neutrality by 2050. The initiative brings together scientific research, industry collaboration, and policy development to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while ensuring biodiversity protection and regional economic stability. Key focus areas include improving emission measurement methods, restoring degraded peatlands, and introducing sustainable practices such as paludiculture, hydrological regulation, and agrivoltaics. \r\n\r\nThe project also promotes the development of low-carbon, high-value products and alternative growing substrates from local materials. Demonstration sites and advanced monitoring systems will generate practical data to guide decision-making. By integrating innovation, socio-economic analysis, and environmental management, PeatTransform supports a balanced and achievable transformation of the peat industry.",

"name": "In Defence of Food. An Eater's Manifesto, Penguin Books 2009",
"about": "Janet Maslin, the author of the book, suggests changing your thinking about nutrition: eat simple, unprocessed food, mostly plant-based",
"text": "This book challenges the contemporary food landscape, where real food is replaced by «edible foodlike substances,» and eating has shifted from a communal activity to a solitary one. The author argues that the food industry and nutritional science contribute to the confusion about what to eat, resulting in the American paradox: increased concern about nutrition leads to declining health. He offers a simple mantra, «Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants,» advocating for a return to real, unprocessed food and a rejection of nutrient-centric thinking. The book explores how this shift can improve personal health and the health of the food chains we are part of, enabling us to escape the pitfalls of the modern Western diet. Pollan’s manifesto calls for thoughtful food choices that can enrich our lives and bring pleasure back to eating, suggesting that change can happen one meal at a time",

"name": "Journal of Development and Social Sciences: Centralization and Decentralization in State Governance Systems: The Case of China, by Dr. Mehwish Muzaffar and others",
"about": "The objectives of this study is to focus on a unique political model of China and to explore the changing patterns of centralization and decentralization in State-Governance systems.",
"text": "The state-building process considers a centralization system for political stability but decentralization can promote and enhance the performance of governance. In this study, China is an interesting case as the Communist Party of China balanced the political system and knows how to enhance its performance and how to control corruption. The reforms started in 1978 and significant decentralization was adopted to make the economic decisions for the development which was carefully handled by the central authority. This research identifies the significant shift from decentralization to re-centralization under the leadership of Xi Jinping to maintain economic growth and political stability and also to oppose corruption. This paper provides insights of the balance of power in a centralized system and recommends that centralization and decentralization can work together by maintaining balance for the development and economic growth of a country.",

"text": "International marriage is a marriage between parties of different nationalities. Each country has its own civil law regulating marriage, so international marriage involves aspects of international civil law. This study raises two key issues: determining applicable laws for material and formal conditions of marriage, and the citizenship of spouses and children. Using a comparative perspective, it focuses on Indonesian and Japanese legal systems. Normative legal research is employed, with statutory and comparative approaches, analyzing primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials through qualitative methods and inductive conclusions. Results show conceptual similarities: material conditions are based on lex patriae, formal conditions on lex loci celebration. Spouses do not automatically gain or lose citizenship, which requires naturalization. Children’s citizenship follows ius sanguinis, and dual citizenship must be resolved within a certain period.",

In absolute darkness, crushed by the weight of mountains, starved of oxygen, cooked alive, bathed in acid, salt or radiation. And yet, they live for thousands, perhaps millions of years! It turns out, this planet is not in space – it is inside the crust of Earth!\r\nThis is the deep biosphere and we basically learned that it exists yesterday. Its volume is at least twice as large as all the Earth’s oceans, home to more microbes than the rest of the entire planet.Their total biomass is more than 20 times greater than all humans, livestock, and animal wildlife. \r\nLet’s descend into this mad, deadly world where none of the rules we thought are mandatory for life apply.",

"name": "Bridging science and climate justice: perspectives from Latin America | by Elisa Arond for SEI",
"about": "Drawing on a report by experts from SEI and the Interamerican Association for Environmental Defense, this analysis explores how science is shaping climate litigation, the barriers to accessing scientific evidence in Latin America & other low-income regions",
"text": "Climate science is playing an increasingly important role in climate litigation by establishing links between greenhouse gas emissions and climate-related harm, supporting claims of responsibility and accountability. While scientific evidence has strengthened cases against governments and corporations, access to data, expertise, and technology remains uneven, particularly in Latin America and other lower-income regions. There, litigation has focused mainly on constitutional and human rights claims, with growing use of scientific and biodiversity evidence in cases involving oil and gas projects and Indigenous territories. Strengthening regional research, improving access to scientific knowledge, and integrating traditional and scientific evidence are key to advancing more effective and equitable climate litigation.",

"about": "The N-IUSSP article by Joel E. Cohen explores the question of whether Earth can sustainably support a population of 4 billion people and discusses associated environmental and developmental challenges.",
"text": "Professor Stan Becker sought background information for a UN debate based on prior review of 66 estimates of Earth's carrying capacity. These estimates, spanning from 1679 to the 20th century, vary widely. Van den Bergh and Rietveld's (2004) review suggests a median estimate of 7.7 billion people. Earth's capacity depends on choices, constraints, and interactions within populations, economics, environments, and cultures. Addressing 11 questions about well-being, inequalities, technologies, and societal values is crucial. Rather than fixating on Earth's exact carrying capacity, the focus should shift to practical actions in the next 25 years to enhance the well-being of current and future generations. Three panaceas—increasing productivity, slowing population growth, and promoting better societal behavior—are advocated for a comprehensive approach.",
