"text": "As urbanization grows and 70% of people are expected to live in cities by 2050, healthy urban soils are vital for ecosystem services such as regulating water and carbon cycles, reducing floods and heat islands, supporting biodiversity, and improving well-being. Yet, sealing, contamination, and compaction degrade these soils and limit their capacity to deliver these benefits.\n\nURSOILL tackles this challenge by creating five Living Labs across EU cities, where stakeholders co-create and test innovative, nature-based solutions for soil restoration. Through a multi-actor, community-centered approach, the project promotes sustainable land management, strengthens knowledge exchange, and ensures practical, replicable outcomes. By restoring soil health, URSOILL helps cities become more resilient, sustainable, and livable.\n\nCoordinated by RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB",

"text": "Six months ago, the U.S. and Ukraine launched the Reconstruction Investment Fund, or “minerals deal,” to rebuild Ukraine’s mining base as a driver of post-war recovery and industrial renewal. Once a powerhouse of the Soviet defense industry, Ukraine is now modernizing its outdated geological data with support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and plans to restart mineral exploration in 2026.\n\nThe $150 million fund blends public and private investment to attract capital for critical minerals like titanium and uranium. A recent CSIS roundtable emphasized priorities such as reprocessing old mine tailings, redirecting unused U.S. aid, aligning private financing with strategic goals, and rebuilding energy and transport infrastructure.\n\nThe initiative marks a shift from traditional aid to investment-based recovery, aiming to restore Ukraine’s industrial strength while strengthening allied mineral security.",

"about": "The EU has agreed to update water legislation by adding emerging pollutants, tightening standards, and strengthening monitoring to protect surface waters and groundwater, safeguard ecosystems, and reduce chemical exposure in line with scientific evidence.",
"text": "The provisional agreement between the Council presidency and the European Parliament updates the EU’s water legislation to better protect surface waters and groundwater from harmful pollutants. Key measures include expanding the list of priority substances, such as PFAS, bisphenols, and certain pesticides, while removing outdated ones like atrazine and tightening standards based on current scientific evidence. A sum standard for pesticides in surface waters (0.2 µg/l) has been introduced, and bisphenol-A has been designated a priority hazardous substance.\n\nMonitoring and reporting obligations are strengthened and streamlined: member states must report biological quality data every three years, chemical data every two years, and overall water-body status every six years, with the option for voluntary annual chemical reporting. Effect-based monitoring (EBM) will be applied to assess the combined impact of chemical mixtures.",

"about": "Kearney’s 2025 Reshoring Index shows U.S. reshoring has slowed as Asian imports outpace domestic output, marking a pause for reassessment amid global supply chain pressures.",
"text": "The 2025 Kearney Reshoring Index reveals a challenging moment for global manufacturing, as trade tensions, shifting tariffs, and supply chain uncertainty have slowed the momentum of U.S. reshoring. After two years of strong gains, the index fell by 311 basis points, reflecting that imports from Asian low-cost countries grew faster than U.S. manufacturing output, which rose only 1%.\n\nWhile CEOs remain committed to reshoring—with 15% more leaders planning to bring operations home and a sharp rise in those citing geopolitical risk as a key factor—the report shows that the U.S. manufacturing ecosystem is still struggling to scale fast enough. Mexico and Canada also faced headwinds, from infrastructure constraints to cost pressures, weakening North America’s nearshoring edge.\n\nKearney concludes that reshoring has entered a “reality check” phase: companies are not abandoning it but pausing to recalibrate. The next stage will depend on stronger coordination and clearer market signals.",

More than a third of global football fans find brand sponsorship appealing—far higher than the general public—and the U.S. market is emerging as a major growth frontier. With the FIFA World Cup 2026™ approaching, U.S. football fandom—driven by young, diverse, and affluent audiences—is expected to surge, opening strong sponsorship opportunities.\r\n\r\nInterest in women’s sports has reached 50% of the global population, reflecting sharp growth since 2022. The WNBA fanbase grew by more than 31% in just two years, alongside a 201% jump in viewership in 2024.",

"text": "The outcome of the 2024 US Presidential election has prompted a shift in the political climate around the world, with repercussions for the way many social issues are discussed and how policies around equality, diversity and inclusion are formulated. The Ipsos Equalities Index has been running since 2023, and our third edition shows where and how public views are changing in response to this - and where they are not. \n\nKey findings include:\n- Half (50%) consider inequality to be one of the most important issues facing their country.\n- More believe that chances of success in life are determined by own merits (42%) than believe they are due to factors beyond our control (30%).\n- 43% think that efforts to promote equality for all groups of people need to go further – more than twice the number (21%) who say that they have already gone too far. \n- Americans are considerably less likely to hold government responsible for tackling inequality.",

The report presents new findings on how cropland degradation contributes to the yield gap worldwide against a backdrop of broader degradation processes on other land cover types and even land abandonment.\n\nDrawing on the latest data on global farm distribution, farm sizes and crop production, the report highlights how the scale at which land is managed shapes both the constraints and the opportunities for adopting sustainable land use and management practices. It also underscores the importance of policymaking that encompasses regulatory and incentive-based measures, tailored to the varied conditions and scales of land use, to avoid, reduce and reverse land degradation.",

The world faces significant deterrents to freedoms of expression, association, and assembly. \r\n\r\nGiven the changing and challenging context, we must reimagine how we champion democracy, human rights, and inclusion. We must mobilize new frontiers to be inclusive and to reach beyond the traditional confines of civil society by widely engaging grassroots communities, corporations, educators and a broader range of citizens of the world.\r\n\r\nTogether, we must work for a democracy that works for the people - accessible, inclusive, and relevant to all.",

According to Holly Schiff, PsyD, a licensed clinical psychologist, \n\nGeneration X parents (born 1965–1980) support their children's individualism and making their own choices. They encourage their children to be more independent and try new things.\n\nMillennials (born 1981–1996) have a parenting style that has created the next generation of more self-aware children—kids who will become Gen-Z parents in the next coming decade. \n\nGeneration Z parents (born 1997–2013) value personal expression and is inclined to reject traditional norms and this leads them to explore new parenting styles. Psychologically, children of Gen Z parents may be healthier because these parents tend to prioritize their child's mental health and well-being.",
