"text": "Due to the recent rise in space tourism, it has emerged as an industry at the forefront of innovative business and legal frameworks. This paper raises novel legal questions about how to align administrative law with the evolving space tourism industry, focusing on Saudi Arabia, Europe, and the United States. It begins with a historical overview of the global development of space tourism and addresses the limitations of current international space law, such as the Outer Space Treaty of 1967. \r\n\r\nThe paper explores the relationship between administrative law and aerospace regulation, analyzing challenges related to liability, passenger rights, environmental concerns, and jurisdictional issues. It includes a comparative analysis of the administrative and regulatory aspects of Saudi Arabia concerning Vision 2030 projects and guidelines, the European Space Agency, and the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States.",

"text": "In life cycle assessment (LCA), little attention has been paid to product lifetime modelling, although the environmental benefit of lifetime extension can vary greatly with lifetime values. Since product lifetime modelling may have a significant effect on the results, this study identifies and explains existing approaches. The consolidation of methodology for lifetime extension in LCA can support practice as well as further development of methodology.\r\n\r\nA scoping literature review identified 67 LCA studies of lifetime extension containing 95 cases. The analysis focused on the case description of product lifetime and its integration in LCA calculations. Then, an overview of product lifetime modelling approaches and guidance for selecting them were developed and summarised into a product lifetime modelling framework which follows LCA methodological steps.",

"text": "The absence of capital goods data in many life cycle assessment (LCA) studies highlights the need to better understand their role in life cycle inventories (LCI). Capital goods include manufacturing machinery, factory buildings, power plants, transmission lines, roads, and sewage systems, and represent a significant part of LCI datasets. However, data on capital goods are often heterogeneous and inconsistent across LCA studies. The main reason for their frequent exclusion is the complexity of data requirements, coupled with ambiguities and inconsistencies in current LCA standards and guidelines. This study\nsuggests the optimal approach to accessing reliable capital goods data entails a multifaceted process: a process encouraging\nrigorous primary data collection through implementing advanced technologies and uncertainty analyses techniques alongside continuous existing database upgradation.",

Similar to salt marshes, coastal freshwater wetlands provide important flood protection and storm abatement services, but their capacity to keep pace with sea level rise and associated saltwater intrusion remains uncertain. Long-term monitoring of wetland soil surface elevation using surface elevation table and marker horizons (SET-MH) has been conducted in salt marshes, while forested wetlands have received comparatively less attention. In 2015, 18 SET-MHs were installed in one restored and two mature forested wetlands on the coastal plain of North Carolina, all of which have experienced saltwater intrusion in recent years. It was hypothesized that the restored wetland would exhibit higher surface elevation gains and that areas protected from saltwater intrusion within all three sites would also demonstrate higher surface elevation gains.",

Human-induced environmental change from local to global scale, and introduced species in particular, has accelerated ecological transformation at many coasts worldwide. A series of major events has fundamentally changed the macrobenthos in a tidal bay of the Wadden Sea (Königshafen, south-eastern North Sea, Atlantic Europe) since 1924. (1) Overexploitation extirpated native oysters. (2) The once dominating seagrasses declined dramatically in the 1930s due to an introduced pandemic disease. This was followed by a loss of fine mud, and an expansion of bioturbating lugworms on sandy flats. (3) In the 1980s–2000s, seagrasses declined further and massive green algal mats spread due to eutrophication. (4) Mussel beds gradually expanded in spite of recurrent resets caused by severe winters. (5) Since the 2000s, introduced Pacific oysters dominated mussel beds.",

"text": "This 1-year outdoor mesocosm study investigated how water table management combined with organic (biochar, Miscanthus residues, cereal straw, biosolids, paper waste) and inorganic (FeSO₄) amendments affects carbon (C) storage and peatland functioning in degraded agricultural peatlands. Biochar was the most effective organic amendment, preserving 18.9 t C ha⁻¹, followed by Miscanthus residues, biosolids, cereal straw, and paper waste. \n\nA high water table with biochar and FeSO₄ suppressed enzyme activities, methanogen populations, and peat mineralization rates. Microbial shifts, including reductions in Actinobacteria (−22%) and Ascomycota (−61%), along with increased Fe-bound C, indicate biotic and abiotic mechanisms enhancing C preservation. Combining water management with targeted amendments can restore peat-C storage, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve peatland ecosystem functioning, offering practical, scalable strategies for sustainable peatland restoration.",

"text": "This study explores the role of regional organizations, particularly the EU and ASEAN, in implementing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It highlights how the SDGs represent a new model of global governance based on inclusive goal-setting rather than binding rules. While global and country-level implementation has been widely studied, regional organizations’ roles remain underexplored. The study argues that regional bodies can support SDG progress by translating global goals into local action, mobilizing resources, coordinating policies, and monitoring progress. Using a comparative analysis, it finds that institutional strength, political context, and regional diversity shape how regional organizations engage with the SDGs. The EU, with strong institutions, plays a more formalized role, while ASEAN, less institutionalized, engages more flexibly. The paper proposes a framework identifying key roles organizations can play—translating, supporting, coordinating, monitoring.",

The framework was tested on real-world datasets from lithium-ion battery recycling and urban waste management systems, demonstrating its practical applicability.\r\n\r\nThe key findings indicate a 25% reduction in energy consumption during workflows compared to traditional methods and an 18% improvement in resource recovery efficiency. Quantitative optimization was based on mathematical models such as mixed-integer linear programming and lifecycle assessments. In addition, the AI algorithms improved classification accuracy in urban waste systems by 20%, while optimized logistics reduced transportation-related emissions by 30%.",

"text": "Groundwater recharge is increasingly threatened by climate variability, urban expansion, and sea-level rise, particularly in coastal and semi-arid regions. This systematic review analyzed 63 studies published between 2014–2024, revealing an average annual recharge decline of 14.6 mm, with future projections suggesting reductions up to 60% due to extreme rainfall events and saltwater intrusion. \r\n\r\nThe review emphasizes the compounded effects of anthropogenic pressures and hydroclimatic extremes, highlighting regional disparities and methodological challenges. It underscores the need for integrated models capturing climate, land-use, and sea-level feedbacks, along with field monitoring and palaeohydrological data. Adaptive strategies, including sustainable urban planning, efficient irrigation, rainwater harvesting, and coastal aquifer protection, are essential to mitigate groundwater depletion and ensure long-term water security under changing environmental conditions.",

"text": "Plants, unable to move, must adapt to environmental stresses like drought, salinity, heat, and cold—challenges worsened by climate change. These stresses greatly reduce crop yields, threatening food security. Recent advances in genetics and omics have revealed molecular mechanisms behind stress sensing and response, such as calcium (Ca²⁺) signaling, liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS), and cell wall sensors. Fast stress signals and slower adaptation processes remain poorly integrated. Key components like RAF-SnRK2 cascades and DELLA proteins mediate crosstalk between stress, immunity, and growth. Strategies to improve resilience without reducing yield include introducing superior alleles, targeted stress responses, and separating growth from stress signaling. Understanding how plants coordinate cellular signals, phase transitions, and development under stress is crucial.",

"text": "Insect-based feeds (entofeeds) are emerging as a promising alternative for aquaculture nutrition, offering numerous advantages over conventional feed sources. The review assesses the nutritional composition of entofeeds, highlighting their rich protein content, essential amino acid profiles, healthy lipid compositions, as well as micronutrients. Compared to traditional feeds like fish meal, entofeeds have great potential in reducing reliance on marine resources while minimizing environmental impacts, including land, water, and energy use. Additionally, their ability to upcycle organic waste supports the concept of circular economy. It also explores feeding trials in various aquaculture species, demonstrating positive outcomes in growth performance, feed conversion efficiency, and immune health. Despite these advantages, entofeeds face challenges related to regulatory approvals, cost-effectiveness, and consumer acceptance.",

This study investigates the impact of natural resource rents—specifically Coal Rents (CR), Forest Rents (FR), Natural Gas Rents (NGR), and Oil Rents (OR)—on SDG performance in four South Asian countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan, over the period 2002–2023. Using balanced panel data, the analysis applies Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and Panel Quantile Regression (PQR) techniques to examine both average and distributional effects. \r\n\r\nThe findings reveal that NGR and OR have a statistically significant and positive impact on the SDGs across all quantiles, indicating their consistent role in promoting sustainable development. In contrast, FR shows a negative association with SDGs at lower quantiles, suggesting potential trade-offs between forest exploitation and sustainability.",

The sub-Saharan wetlands are stunning ecosystems in combating climate change, where there is insufficient vegetation. Hence, Dryland-wetlands (DW) in sub-Saharan Africa are oases and pivotal for biodiversity, water management, and climate resilience. The face of threats is increasing due to anthropogenic pressures and climate change. These wetlands, found in arid and semi-arid regions with low and irregular precipitation, are vital for sustaining diverse species and providing essential ecosystem services such as water purification and carbon sequestration. Despite their critical role, DW are under severe threat of overuse, land degradation, and climate variability. This review evaluates the ecological functions of dryland-wetlands, their benefits, including support for biodiversity and water regulation, and the substantial challenges.",

Social and political changes brought by globalisation, migration and technological advances of the 21st century have generated a rise in the popularity of the utopian and philosophical idea of global citizenship. In response to the challenges of today’s globalised and interconnected world, such as inequality, human rights violations and poverty, global citizenship education has been invoked as a means of preparing youth for an inclusive and sustainable world. \n\nThis volume aims to contribute to the debate, question the relevancy of global citizenship education’s policy objectives and to enhance understanding of local perspectives, ideologies, conceptions and issues related to citizenship education on a local, national and global level.",
