"text": "IOY is a global platform committed to youth engagement in policy-making, amplifying youth voices, and driving meaningful change worldwide. Originally founded in 2008 as Generation Next Voice of Youth (GNVOY) to promote youth inclusion in decision-making, it evolved into the International Youth Conference (IYC) in 2019 following the 68th UN Civil Society Conference, in collaboration with UNDGC and UN-Habitat, as a dynamic forum for youth advocacy. In 2024, IYC expanded into IOY to further its mission, aiming for UN General Assembly observer status and solidifying its role as a global youth-led organization dedicated to mobilizing young leaders and fostering sustainable impact.\n\nIOY empowers young people to engage with global issues and challenges, fostering their voices and actions towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By creating a platform for education, dialogue, and collaboration, IOY aims to inspire and equip youth to become proactive agents of change.",

"about": "Creativity is not a sudden “eureka” moment but a skill developed through practice, persistence, the right conditions, and a growth-oriented mindset.",
"text": "In 1666, Isaac Newton saw an apple fall and began questioning why objects always descend toward Earth’s center, sparking his ideas about gravity. However, he developed these ideas for nearly twenty years before publishing Principia in 1687. The apple was only the start of a long creative process, which applies to everyone. Research shows creativity declines with age as non-creative behavior is learned, though genetics play a partial role. Intelligence beyond a certain threshold doesn’t make someone more creative; mindset and effort matter more. A growth mindset helps creativity by focusing on learning rather than avoiding mistakes or embarrassment. Creativity can be strengthened through constraints, consistent writing, broadening knowledge, sleep, nature, positive thinking, and producing work regularly. Creativity is a long-term process that requires commitment, practice, and persistence.",

"text": "Clear emphasizes that comprehension deepens when readers engage critically with what they consume. Quitting mediocre books preserves time and attention for titles that genuinely shape thinking. Choosing material connected to current goals increases retention through immediate application. He also stresses the value of searchable notes, which turn reading into a lifelong resource rather than a fleeting experience. Building “knowledge trees” helps integrate ideas across different books, strengthening understanding through connections. Summarizing a book in simple language exposes gaps in reasoning and clarifies its core message. \n\nReading widely within one topic prevents narrow perspectives, while rereading exceptional books reveals new insights as your life context changes. Above all, the goal is consistent learning that compounds over time.",

Tests confirmed smooth communication using the PCS G Block spectrum, across urban and rural areas, indoors and outdoors, and even under tree cover or clear skies.\n\nCrucially, SpaceX emphasizes that any LTE-enabled smartphone will work with this technology—no hardware upgrades required. "about": "Already more than 30 million people flee their villages, regions or countries every year because of climate change. By 2050, it’s estimated there will be between 200 million and 1 billion climate refugees.",
"text": "As extreme weather threatens the lives of hundreds of millions of people, how can the world best respond?\n\nFaced with these migrations, the international community seems incapable of agreeing on defining new protection and compensation. Currently there is no clear definition of a ‘climate refugee’, and climate refugees are not covered by the 1951 Refugee Convention. The spectre of waves of unrestrained migration is brandished for populist purposes to justify the locking of borders.\n\nBut, in the absence of a global response, the countries and regions most affected by the climate change/migration problem are taking the initiative.\n\nThis documentary explores these challenges through the prism of individual human stories and innovative initiatives in Asia, the Pacific and Latin America. In the long term, they could become models, well beyond their borders.\n\nProduction: Babel Doc\nDirector: François-Xavier Trégan",

Open data and geo-information from satellites allow us to understand the dynamic interplay between humans (and our settlements) and the landscapes and ecosystems we are part of and dependent upon. By combining long-term datasets, monitoring present conditions and future projections, invaluable data is generated. \n\nUnderstanding trends and patterns – like population growth or urban density – makes it possible to assess vulnerability to disasters, environmental pressures, or economic dynamics with greater accuracy and from a wider perspective. This information alongside other data such as the characteristics of cities and their cultures, can support policymakers and urban planners in anticipating and responding to climate or socio-economic challenges. \n\nThis is why the EC’s Joint Research Centre published the Atlas of the Human Planet 2024.",

"text": "Obviously, the world has become a riskier place for humanitarian crises in the past ten years. Despite improvements in preparedness, the number of people exposed to natural hazards, conflict, and economic challenges has risen significantly. \r\nWhile Asia saw a decrease in risk due to infrastructure development and improved coping mechanisms, the Americas and parts of Africa face a growing threat. Countries facing the highest risk are concentrated in Africa, with 10 out of the 15 riskiest nations on the continent. \r\nThe report also highlights the future impact of climate change. Without adaptation measures, low-income countries will be particularly affected by extreme weather events and rising sea levels.\r\nThe INFORM forum, aims to develop tools and analyses to help prevent and respond to humanitarian crises. This report underscores the need for increased focus on mitigating risk and investing in adaptation strategies to build a more resilient future",

The results indicate that 6.3% of global land surface is at high and 3% at very high risk, most of these geographic areas being in Latin America and Oceania. \n\nPublished in Science Advances, the study Assessing the risk of diseases with epidemic and pandemic potential in a changing world analyses the link between the main drivers stemming from human activities, and the outbreak risk of WHO priority diseases, except for COVID-19. The WHO list consists of nine zoonotic diseases – these are caused by transmission of pathogens from animals to humans.",

Such a remarkable development has brought about an equally dramatic environmental impact, with the main problems regarding air, water and noise pollution, waste generation and disposal, invasive species in ballast water, as well as pressures exerted on fragile environments and host communities. The increasing popularity of cruise tourism has also drawn the attention of environmental groups and organisations that closely scrutinise the sector, urging for greater and more authentic sustainability.",

"text": "As known, caverns in rock salt are used for storing various substances and waste disposaldue to their impermeability and self-healing characteristics. \r\nThat's why understanding the thermal effects on rock salt becomes very impotant. This study investigates the impact of temperature (20°C to 250°C) on physical and mechanical properties of rock salt including tensile strength (σt), and uniaxial compression strength (σc), & the P-wave velocity (Vp). Utilizing acoustic emission (AE) and X-ray micro-computed tomography techniques, the study monitors microcrack accumulation and changes in the rock salt's microstructure and porosity. \r\nResults reveal that as temperature rises, Vp and σt decrease, while σc increases. Ductility and axial strain also rise with temperature. AE activity initiates early, intensifying with higher temperatures, influencing crack initiation and damage thresholds. X-ray micro-CT images indicate a significant increase in cracks and porosity at elevated temperatures",

Cooper et.al.) entitled \"Humans are the most significant global geomorphological driving force of the 21st century\". \nIn the Anthropocene, humanity's geological prowess eclipses natural forces, redefining our planet through massive mineral extraction and construction activities that has led to astonishing transformations. \nOur geological footprint extends to gas extraction, ore and non-metallic minerals, and immense earthworks. We've become the primary agents shaping landscapes and aquatic ecosystems, solidifying our status as the Anthropocene architects.\nThe total material moved globally reached approximately 3700 Gt between 2000 and 2015, supporting the recognition of the Anthropocene as a geological epoch. The research underscores humanity's role as the primary agent of sediment movement, leaving a distinct anthropogenic signature on the Earth's surface, subsurface, and water bodies",

"text": "It offers a detailed review of diverse eco-friendly construction materials, focusing on sustainable options as the building sector responds to growing concerns about environmental degradation. It examines bamboo, engineered wood products, recycled composites, and optimized concrete mixtures, paying particular attention to their compressive, tensile, and flexural strengths as essential indicators of structural integrity. Laboratory tests were conducted to determine the fundamental properties of selected materials, allowing the study to evaluate their practical use in real construction projects. Special emphasis is placed on flexural strength as a factor influencing performance under load. The research also considers the environmental impact of each material, assessing renewability, recyclability, and energy efficiency. The findings serve as a valuable reference for architects, engineers, and policymakers seeking to promote greener and more resilient built environments.",

"about": "This article focuses on reconstructing the opportunities and challenges of collaboration between sociologists and labour movements in a context where trade unions are relatively weak and the institutional foundations for collaboration are lacking.",
"text": "Poland has a long tradition of cooperation between intellectuals and the labour movement, as well as organic intellectuals within the labour movement, which manifested itself during the workers’ and citizens’ struggles against authoritarian socialism. However, this legacy has weakened in the 1990s during the period of neoliberal economic restructuring, supported by part of the former anti-communist opposition. This article documents some traces of the revival of this collaboration in the 2010s and 2020s, based on available literature, documents and author's experiences from several projects and initiatives in which he was involved.\r\n\r\nIn the first part of the article, the history of the relations between sociologists and trade unions in Poland is briefly presented with reference to the division of sociological labour into public, professional, policy and critical sociology proposed by Burawoy (2005). The second part discusses the cooperation between sociologists and larger trade unions.",
